Serving Our Community
Emergency Ministry Fund
Thanks to the generosity of our parishioners, we are able to offer limited assistance to local residents for an emergency, including food assistance, utilities assistance, or partial rental assistance to prevent eviction. Our Admininstrative Assistant, Rita Klock, carefully screens each individual and ensures that we are not duplicating services, by using the real time HMIS software (Homeless Management Information System that indicates what other local churches and not-for- profit agencies are doing when it comes to assisting our neighbor. This ministry also includes appropriate referral to local agencies or professionals for those needs that are beyond our ability to adequately address.
To receive assistance, we ask that you contact the Church Office at (318) 445-9845 to set an appointment or to be added to our waitlist.

Community Breakfast
On the last Sunday of each month, St. James provides a free, full hot breakfast - pancakes, grits, eggs, bacon, sausage, fruit (the works!) - for our neighbors. Our parishioners start cooking at 7:00am, and we serve breakfast from 8:30am until we are out of food. Additionally, local veterinary offices, hairdressers, and other organizations offer their services at free or reduced rates during our breakfast. For more information about this ministry, please contact Deacon Michael at [email protected].
