Messy Church
Messy Church is an all-age worship experience that explores God’s love in an accessible way. At Messy Church, today’s busy households of all shapes and sizes are invited into a welcoming space to experience faith. Messy Church at St. James meets on the Second Sunday of every other month from 12:30pm to 2:30pm in our Parish Hall. What to Expect Messy Church is Food: Each Messy Church gathering at St. James begins with a meal, sitting at the table with new and old friends, sharing the stories of our real and messy lives. Messy Church is Fun: All ages gather to engage in activities, crafts, and games that bring the stories of our Christian faith to life. Messy Church is Faith: Following the activities and crafts, all ages join in a short Eucharistic celebration – a meal shared at Christ’s Table – with music, movement, and prayer. Additional Offerings In addition to meeting as Messy Church in the Parish Hall at St. James, we hope to take the joy found in the Eucharistic celebration beyond the four walls of our church. Alternating months with Messy Church, we will offer opportunities to gather for worship and holy wondering across Alexandria and the surrounding area. We may find ourselves at the art museum one month, at the local zoo the next time we meet … who knows … we may even wander over to Camp Hardtner, our Episcopal Camp located in nearby Pollock, LA! Detailed information about these gatherings will be shared closer to the time of the event and can be found in Events shared through the church’s Facebook page. Upcoming Dates October 12, 2025 – Mt. Olivet and Communion of Saints November 9, 2025 – The Psalms December 14, 2025 – Advent and Christmas For more information about these offerings, please contact Mother Shelley at (318) 445-9845. |
